Funny Birds
I just love these birds. Kindergarten has been working on various types of portrait. We worked on self-portraits. We took our portrait skills and created birds. The focus of this project was to work on connected shapes. Each student was asked to create eyes that are connected not separate. The birds were created using a variety of shapes they are familiar with. Later we created borders using cut shapes, which we worked on spacing and pattern.
KINDERgarten Mix-em monsters
The kindergarten are working on designing their very own monster. We have been working on various types of portrait work. We created our self-portrait for our magnet project. Now we get to take our portrait skills and add them to monsters.

Fox and Polar Bear friends
The kindergarten created a fox or a polar bear. Each student had to make a choice of which animal they would like to make. We created our fur using torn paper collage, black yarn trees, and a tissue paper sky. A touch of sparkle was added with a dusting of snow like glitter!

Sheep on the Farm
Our sheep on the farm project is a very involved. We first started by making a fence using masking tape on heavy watercolor paper. Once the tape was applied we used watercolor for our sky and a mix of tempera paint to paint over our fence. The fence technique is called tape resist, this is one of my favorite and effective resist techniques. We then peeled off the tape and started working on our fluffy sheep wool using yarn. We are currently working on the big red barn and the small details on our farm. Our sheep are super happy to live on these little farms!
Here are a few of my finished Kinder art Self-Portrait. They did a great job!
WE STARTED OUT OUR PROJECT TALKING ABOUT THE SHAPE OF OUR FACE. THE STUDENTS AND I DISCUSSED THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SELF-PORTRAIT-VS- A PORTRAIT. WE STUDIED THE MONA LISA TO TALK ABOUT WHAT A PORTRAIT IS. USING A U SHAPE FACE TO CREATE OUR PORTRAIT WE ADDED ALL OF OUR FACIAL FEATURES.
THE HARDEST PART WAS WORKING ON OUR HAIR, BUT THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB!
